Ion privacy policy At Ion, we are committed to protecting your privacy. We collect and request information about visitors to our website in several different ways, and we use that information to help answer technical questions and analyze the effectiveness of our website. We do not sell, share or rent this information to anyone outside of Ion. Our philosophy - demonstrated both in practice and by the very nature of our product - is fundamentally about permission-based contact. As such, we handle the personal information you entrust to us with the highest respect. What information do we collect? There are two different types of information: personally-identifiable and non-personally-identifiable. We only collect personally-identifiable information if you opt-in and take certain actions on our site. If you choose to fill out an online contact form, we record your full name, company name and email address. If you choose to subscribe to our company newsletter, we record your full name and email address. If you open one of our email announcements, we may record that event and/or any URLs you click on within the message. If you choose to submit a private technical support question, your name and email address are kept confidential in our internal, restricted-access archive of technical support questions and answers. We request this information so that we can answer your questions, inform you of important company or product news, fulfil your orders, and provide ongoing product support. We store this personally-identifiable information on our own secure servers, and we retain it for our permanent company records. The non-personally-identifiable information we collect is typical of many web logs: browser and processor type and IP address. We may also track the pages visited within our site. We use this information in aggregate to understand our visitors better, and to learn which sections of our site are most and least popular. We store this information on our own secure server for a period of 6 months, after which it is replaced by more recent data. What are cookies? "Cookies" are small pieces of information stored by the web browser on our computer's hard drive; they are used to assist in tailoring your return visits to a website, or to assist in monitoring website usage. Ion uses cookies to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of certain pages on our site. Your personal information If you fill out the online contact form on our site, we will follow-up with you by phone or email. Please inform us of any changes to your contact information; if you prefer not to receive such calls in the future, please let us know and we will record and honour your request. If you subscribe to our mailing lists, you can unsubscribe at any time by following the instructions at the footer of the email message. If you own Ion's software and need to update your contact information, please contact us indicating the change. We may use your contact information in the future to communicate important company and product information, such as upgrade availability, technical support issues, and new product announcements. Your information is protected We record the personally-identifiable and non-personally-identifiable information described above on our own servers and databases. We do not sell, share or rent this information to anyone outside Ion , and access to it is restricted to employees of Ion who have a specific, job-related need for it. In addition, our servers are protected to attempt to prevent unauthorised access by outsiders. Prospective customers sometimes ask us for references of existing customers. In such cases, we may contact you for permission to provide your name as a reference. We will not divulge your contact information without first receiving your explicit permission to do so. Your company name In order to promote the success of our software in the marketplace, we post a list of selected customers on our websites. If you purchase one of our products or services, we may ask your permission to include your company's name on the appropriate website. This listing will also include a link to your company's home page, if applicable. List members and list administrators On occasion, we are contacted by people who are subscribed to mailing lists that are run by our customers using Subscribe software, or on lists that we host for our customers. These people typically have a question or complaint about the list they are on (for example, how to unsubscribe from it) but have not been able to contact their List Administrator directly. We may choose to provide these people with the appropriate List Administrator's email address, so that they can resolve their question. We will not, however, divulge any other, confidential contact information that is part of our customer account records. If necessary, we may contact the List Administrator ourselves and pass on the list member's request. Information for subscribe customers If we host your email list(s), you entrust us with your list information, including passwords, list membership and message content. Once we set up your list and it is running smoothly, we will only access your list's administrative interface when you ask a technical question or when we are alerted by Subscribe of a possible problem. Please note that we do not sell, rent, or trade your list information to anyone outside Ion . Only employees of Ion who are responsible for supporting Subscribe customers are granted access to the lists we host. However, we may need to release or transfer data in a few, special circumstances, when: We respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims. We believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, spamming, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of our terms of service, or as otherwise required by law. We must transfer the information, to a successor company in the event of a sale, merger, liquidation, dissolution, reorganisation or acquisition of Ion. Ion websites contain links to other websites that we believe are relevant to our visitors' needs. Please be aware that Ion is not responsible for the privacy policies of those other sites.
